Project Starlet is a small nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 2021 to help youth overcome barriers to educational success in the 21st century. We were founded by a small group of concerned professionals, from various backgrounds, who are committed to helping youth from vulnerable communities participate academically, learn, and succeed. When resources are stretched, educational needs may go lacking as families struggle with the economic challenges of day-to-day survival.  With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the social and economic challenges to educational participation are greater and the need for educational and community resources is more pronounced. Project Starlet’s educational scholarships provide financial assistance to help with a variety of needs so young people can focus on learning and advancing academically.

Project Starlet supports full academic participation of Metro Detroit area youth through scholarships for basic needs and vital educational resources. Our scholarships are intended to help students advance academically and prepare for effective and productive adult roles in a changing world.

Project Starlet’s Vision & Goals
Our vision is to help youth overcome barriers and participate fully in the educational process. We recognize that every situation is complex, and youth may be faced with several barriers simultaneously. While we are unable to remove all the barriers, our scholarships are intended to strategically address financial barriers.

The overriding goal of Project Starlet is to provide resources and supports to enhance, improve, engage, and stimulate learning by providing:

• Clothing needed for school attendance, including but not limited to uniforms, underwear, socks, shoes, boots, and coats
• Technology resources, including but not limited to computers, earphones, wi-fi subscriptions, printers, and other supplies
• Access to academic supports, such as subject-specific tutors
• Additional resources to the community
